Maul me once, shame on you; maul me twice, shame on me

Photographer Mauled by Yellowstone Bear
YELLOWSTONE NATIONAL PARK, Wyo. (AP) - A man whose face was severely mauled by a grizzly in Yellowstone National Park is a photographer and author of books about grizzlies who also had been attacked in 1993.

The National Park Service said Jim Cole, 57, was hiking alone, off- trail in prime grizzly habitat Wednesday when he was attacked by a sow with a cub. He apparently was carrying pepper spray but whether he used it was unclear.

Well, obviously he must not have used the pepper spray, because I'm sure that would have repelled a 4-500 pound ferocious animal that must have felt threatened. Is that really the recommended protection against grizzly bears? How about a taser that puts out a million volts; that's what I'm talking about. Either that, or how about carrying an M-16.

My guess is the guy is a card carrying member of PETA, in which case he had to disavow any common sense he may have ever had. More than likely he watched too many Yogi Bear cartoons when he was a kid, and thought the worst these bears would do is trick him out of a picnic basket.

Why do they leave out the details? Like the story about the bobcat mauling. They didn't tell us how the cat unzipped his tent. Did the guy fail to carefully zip his tent fully? Isn't this the most important part of the story? Ach!

I posted this at Gabrielle's place, but then decided to comment here as well.

I have finally come to understand the origins of the AKJ. KD, you might be interested.

In fact, I believe the beginning of AKJ was back in Genesis 9...

The fear and dread of you will fall upon all the beasts of the earth and all the birds of the air, upon every creature that moves along the ground, and upon all the fish of the sea; they are given into your hands.

Everything that lives and moves will be food for you. Just as I gave you the green plants, I now give you everything.

Now we are seeing a rebellion by the animal kingdom in an attempt to overule God's provision.

We must fight this until the bitter end. ;D
