Tiger mauls woman to death in Sumatra
JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) - A 47-year-old woman was mauled to death by an endangered Sumatran tiger in a village on the Indonesian island of Sumatra, police said Thursday.
The tiger attacked the woman at midnight Wednesday near her house and dragged her into the jungle as her 12-year-old daughter stood by helplessly, said local police chief Lt. Col. Arum Priono.
Villagers have been advised to stay inside at night.
There are fewer than 700 Sumatran tigers worldwide, according to conservationists, and the rare animals are being forced to venture beyond traditional hunting grounds as rampant illegal logging, land clearing and commercial development eats into their jungle habitat.
Police were searching with forest rangers, the military and conservationists to try to catch the tiger.

I'm sorry this woman was killed, and I'm very sorry for the young girl who saw this happen to her mother, she needs our prayers.

With the obvious out of the way, lets get down to the "useful idiot," leftist slant of this story. In their opinion, the reason this woman died is because of evil men who are trying to develop the island. I have no clue as to the situation in Sumatra, but I imagine that anywhere in the world where you have predatory, carnivorous animals in close proximity to human beings, things like this may happen. Are the citizens of Sumatra benefiting from this development? Will lives be changed for the better, will job opportunities arise, will the standard of living be raised by the progress being made on the island? I don't have answers, and I'm not going to bother with researching the facts---what happens in Sumatra, stays in Sumatra. Their government can take care of their own problems.

I'm just thankful we don't have to worry about hungry tigers prowling around Rockford in the middle of the night. What we do have to worry about are some obnoxious squirrels, a little gopher who's always around our bird feeder, a nasty jihadist woodpecker who terrorizes all the other birds, and some rabbits that seem to like hanging around our back yard. They're not ordinary rabbits though; they appear to have pointy, razor-sharp teeth, and they look like killers. I often wonder about all the bones we find in the back yard. It's a good thing I have a Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch on hand.
