I just overheard a co-worker who mans our help desk tell somebody, jokingly of course---there are no stupid questions, only stupid people. That of course is one of those sayings that is so popular in situations such as seminars, business meetings, sales situations; and of course it’s total bulls**t. Of course there are stupid questions, and everyone present usually knows it’s a stupid question, except the person asking it.
Another saying that has always bugged me: The Customer Is Always Right—b.s., many times the customer is a complete moron and has no clue as to why what they’re requesting is totally off-base. The customer may need to always be satisfied, that doesn’t mean they’re always right.
This is not meant to denigrate stupid people. Every human being alive can say and/or do stupid things from time to time. It’s just that if they catch it, or you call them on it, and they realize it was stupid and act accordingly, you can usually assume they are a centrist or a conservative. If they say/do something stupid, than have it pointed out to them, but they continue to say/do said stupid thing, you can assume they’re a liberal.
