What's the focal point in this picture? What do you notice first.

Can anybody explain the role of this security guy standing there. Do they expect United Nation's members to rush the stage and start some mosh pit?

I notice that empty chair!

I went right to the security guy. It looks like he's in a spotlight. I did notice the chair right in front of him though.

Good idea for a trivia quiz: what show had one of the main characters concerned about a retail security guard having to stand all day?

I noticed the empty chair as well, and began thinking 'what a lousy picture'

PB: I agree. I would have taken a picture like this. I would think a professional could have been able to frame it better. The first time I saw it on my screen at work, the image was darker than I see on my laptop, that security guard just jumped out at me.

After seeing video of some of the political assemblies in India or China, where people are attacked at the podium, I imagine this must be a kill zone when the president of the United States is speaking.

But what about the dude standing in the corner? He looks like the Phantom of the Opera.

He's not just a security guard, he also holds up the 'applause' sign. I'm sure I recognized him from Shrek.
