Do Your Best

The Cub Scout motto. That's what I tried to do for six years as a scout leader, four of them as cubmaster. Last night was the kick-off pack meeting for the new year, and the cubmaster who succeeded me asked if I would come by so that we could let the boys see that a transition had taken place. That was only part of it though. The pack leaders also wanted to say thanks, and presented me with a beautiful walking stick that has the Boy Scout emblem on it, and they also burned my name, cubmaster and the years 2001-2007 into it. I love it. I'm going to miss the Cub Scouts; but I am planning to continue on with the Boy Scouts in some type of capacity. I will keep you posted on that.

The hiking stick has a proud history with the scouts, and it all began with Lord Robert Baden-Powell. Click on the pic to see a close-up.

I ain't there quite yet. I plan to get some type of all-terrain scooter to get me around when I'm at that point.

This will be nice to have when I'm walking around downtown Rockford late at night, the big city can be a dangerous place.
