It was yesterday, July 13. He wanted to go to Fuddruckers for his birthday dinner, so I met them there right after work. So far we've only gotten him a knife that he wanted off a web site, which actually got to us rather quick with the shipping. We're waiting until next week, then we're driving up to Camp Ripley to visit the military museum. When he was up there during a Boy Scout event he saw some things in their store that he has his heart on, so we'll get them for him.
It's hard to believe, 12 years ago today we were in the hospital room holding our first child, who came into the world at 11:25 pm the night before. We got to the hospital at 11:00 am that morning, and it's a day we'll never forget. At one point, MM was in quite a bit of pain, and they had construction going on right above the room we were in---she grabbed my hand, nearly crushing every bone, and said very firmly, through clenched teeth---that has got to stop. It did, eventually, but that only made it easier to hear the screaming from the rooms next to us. It was a great day nonetheless, all caught on our brand new camcorder, which at the time cost $1200, and now goes for about $300. We're bringing the kids tonight to meet our friends at the blog event.
