Taking a page out the squirrel jihadist handbook

Motorcycle Driver Dies In Deer Wreck

Living out in a rural area as we do, much of our driving is on back county roads. MM and I have each had our fair share of close calls with these large rodent wannabes. My scariest encounter occurred in the dark on my way home from work one day.

I didn't see it until the last moment, but there was a deer standing in the middle of the road, right on the centerline, facing the way I was driving. I didn't see it until I was right on top of it, and I swear to this day that my sideview mirror clipped it on the rearend. Had it been standing about a foot over to the right, I would have been chewing on rump roast after it smashed right through my windshield.

They're worse than squirrels. At least a squirrel is going to lose everytime, that's if you just drive right over it and not swerve. A deer though, you better try to avoid them at all cost.

I wonder if someone posed Bambi's legs like that? They're so straight..almost a pirouette-like leap for straight on into a windshield. Yeesh!

My personal favorite for roadkill is raccoons. Especially after one or two destroy someone's sweet corn patch. I shot one out of a tree a couple of years ago to protect my own corn. Those ravenous, greedy little devils!

You know why the chicken crossed the road---to prove to the racoons it could be done.

I probably see a dead racoon every 1000 feet on my drive in to work.
