1884 - John Harvey Kellogg patents corn flakes
Not sure if it was the first brand cereal on the market; but, I do know that since then cereals have been producing like tribbles. I can not believe how an entire aisle at Wal-mart can be dedicated to just cereal. Personally, I'm a Raisin Bran fan.
