Pups in prison----no, not pit bulls

I stumbled on some pictures from a prison program that I find very interesting. MM and I had actually seen a television report on this program quite a while back. The program simply entails prisoners training dogs as helpers for the disabled. It was fascinating to see the transformation in character of some of the inmates who were involved in the program. You hear alot about studies which show the benefits of owning a pet, and it's easy to believe when you see the affect these dogs have on some pretty hardened criminals. I don't know that owning a pet would have helped the VA Tech shooter; but many of these inmates are changed for life by this experience. Click on the banner if you want to read more about the program.
