Terrorist strikes; high alert on the AKJ front

Tiger Bites Off Woman's Arm at Zoo in Montenegro
A Siberian tiger at a private zoo in Montenegro bit off an arm of a woman who tried to feed the animal.
Slavka Sekulovic, 58, had put her arm into the cage with two Siberian tigers when one of them grabbed it and bit it off, said doctor Zoran Srzentic who admitted the woman at a nearby hospital.
Srzentic said that Sekulovic's life is not in danger, though she remained in shock after losing a lot of blood.
"The tiger just wouldn't let it go," he added.

Again, I'll stick with feeding our two guinea pigs by hand; if I ever had to feed a pair of tigers, I think I'd choose the toss it through the bar method. This kind of incident can be understood when it deals with tigers; I'm waiting for the day a story comes out of San Francisco where one of the killer meat-eating African clawed frogs gnaws off somebody's arm.

Japanese Fisherman Killed by Whale
An angry whale lashed out at a boat, knocking a man into the frigid water.
The Japanese fisherman was knocked out of the small boat while trying to rescue a wayward whale that had strayed out of open waters.
The body of the fisherman was later discovered by divers. The man was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
The whale started to thrash and threw two other fisherman from another boat into the water as well.
Local fisherman and officials were trying to coax the 50 foot long whale Uwajima Bay Tuesday and back into the open sea when the whale went wild.

I'm curious, how do they know the whale was angry; could it have possibly just been mildly annoyed, or maybe it was just feeling a little irritable. It's unfortunate that this guy lost his life trying to save a whale; personally, I don't think it's an even trade-off. It's hard to believe there are people out there who would consider the whale's life more important than the human.
