While I'm still in a ranting mood

I had the unfortunate opportunity today to visit that bastion of leftist capitalism that is known as IKEA. We went to get JR a leftist sofa bed thingy that was relatively inexpensive and which caught Mocha-momma's eye for his room.

This was my second visit to this promulgator of Swedish Socialism in the form of furniture, and again I was absolutely amazed at how crowded this place was. MM tells me it's like this constantly. We had lunch in their cafeteria, and this is what I'm going to focus my rant on.

What an absolute joke. One of the things I have always heard about this place was that it had a great eating area. I don't think I'd consider a place that offers a variety of about 5 food items could really be considered good dining. I ended up spending $5.00 for 10 tiny meatballs, a couple of potatoes the size of a golf ball, and a plop of cranberry sauce. I thought I'd at least try the salad bar (which keeping with the leftist theme, was an organic salad bar). It had the spring lettuce, which I don't like, and to accent the flavorlessness of that, they had mushroom, cheese and black olives as the only other options to create a salad. I skipped that.

Needless to say, I was still one very hungry, unhappy camper after we left the place. Down with these socialists. It's going to be another very, very cold day in MN before I ever want to set foot in IKEA again.

Why didn't you get the family deal-2 adult plates of food and two kids entrees for $10.00?
seriously, once your kids hit 48" tall, can't go in the smal land, and won't order off the kids menu, you never look at Ikea in the same way again.

Lingonberry sauce. Not Cranberry: Lingonberry. I think "lingon" is Swedish for "commie" but I'm not sure.

We get down there every few months, seeing that Sweeter Half is all Swede. She likes to keep in touch with her roots, though she does vote conservative.

Ikea made sure they wouldn't get my business with their "welcome criminals" ("Ikea bans guns...") signs.

Interesting tidbit; the founder of Ikea lives in Switzerland, in part to avoid Swedish taxes.
