We got Mary Poppins from the library for Hannah to watch this weekend. I started thinking about whether some Hollywood dimwit today would ever try and and do a remake. They'd probably cast Brad Pitt and Angela Jolie as Bert and Mary, then change the story so that it would get an R rating.
I like Mary Poppins, but I always get some of the story line confused with one of my other all-time favorite movies---The Dirty Dozen. One of my favorite scenes is when John Cassavettes, as Falco, goes a little psycho and starts laughing so hard that he starts floating up to the ceiling, and the only way he can get back down is by machine-gunning a bunch of penguins because he thinks they're Nazi generals. Another favorite is when Jim Brown is running around the Banks residence dropping hand grenades in their air vents and then gets gunned down by the tuppins bird lady. Lee Marvin is one of my all time favorite actors; when he sings Chim-chim Cheree, it really gets to me.
I don't remember a whole lot of details from my elementary school years; but I do remember a lot of the movies we saw back in the 60's. I remember for my birthdays going to see The Incredible Mr. Limpet (with Don Knotts) and Yellow Submarine (animated Beatles movie).
We went to drive-ins quite often. My parents never liked getting out of the car once we were there, so we always brought our own food and pop, and if we ever had to go to the bathroom we would have to pee in an empty pop bottle. I remember going to see Cleopatra (Burton and Taylor), all the new James Bond movies, Elvis Presley movies. I remember seeing Sound of Music in an indoor theater; the biggest memory of that was my grandmother turning around and telling some couple to shut up and watch the movie.
I took the day off today to be home with Mocha-momma and the kids; it's President's Day, so there's no school. To kill two birds, I scheduled a doctor's appt., I'm going to have a physical done, now that I'm over 50, let the prostate checks begin. Afterward we're going to go see The Epic Movie, then have dinner and do some other errands. I'll give a review of Epic Movie when we get back tonight.

I'm thinking that counseling may be necessary at this point...
may your doctor have small fingers.
I am back at my spot in Caribou Coffee, sipping my Cappuccino, and here's the first place I headed.
By the way, my brother, sister, niece, nephew and I watched the hilarious Nude Bomb movie of Get Smart on Sat. Night.
I love "The Incredible Mr.Limpet", but I didn't really like "The Yellow Submarine". It was kind of freaky.
