'Agent of Change' trounced by pro-war RepublicanAnti-war Democrat blames drubbing on her plain looks
A Democratic candidate considered one of the most outspoken critics of the Iraq war was clobbered by one of its biggest supporters in a Minnesota race that's received little media coverage.
Incumbent Republican John Kline trounced anti-war activist Coleen Rowley by double digits in their bid for the state's 2nd congressional district. The blowout bucks conventional wisdom that anti-war sentiment worked in Democrats' favor across the board.
Rowley, who scolded Kline for "blindly" supporting Bush and the war, blames her plain looks for the loss.
"For politics, you do have to have a certain amount of prom queen appeal," she said.
Let me translate:
The fact that I'm a leftist twit and that my far, far left liberal message was totally rejected by the constituents in this district had nothing to do with my loss. The voters obviously are ignorant and shallow morons who only voted for my opponent because I was beaten with an ugly stick as a child.
Lets call the 'Waaaaambulance' for poor Colleen. Newsflash Ms Rowley---if Miss Universe ran on your platform, I wouldn't have voted for her. If anybody has a claim to this type of disgusting logic and reasoning, it would be Patty Wetterling. If this type of argument were true, Michelle Bachmann should have won in a landslide, not the close call that it was. These liberals are pathetic.
Segue: David Letterman made a joke one time about the Miss Universe contest, he said: "is it just me or does it seem like the winner is always from planet Earth?" I thought that was humorous.
