Dirty Extreme MythBusting Blogging

The Discovery Channel is having a spoof contest. They’re accepting videos that parody any of their main shows, such as: MythBusters, Dirty Jobs, etc. My son loves some of these shows; in particular—MythBusters, FutureWeapons, and Dirty Jobs; so, we did a video. We did a take-off on Dirty Jobs in which he hosted a show called ‘Surviving Extremely Extreme Dirty Chores.’ We had him cleaning out the litter box and his room. It came out ok, but I’m sure it won’t win the big prize. We had fun doing it.

I thought back to all the dirty rotten jobs I’ve done over my lifetime. This wasn’t exactly a dirty job, but it was rotten. I had a summer job in college working at a local glass factory. I was on the general maintenance crew which did odd jobs all over the plant, which was actually pretty fun, and offered some variety. We did have to occasionally fill in for someone on vacation, and then we were stuck doing that one thing the whole time. One summer I had to spend two weeks straight working in the decorating area. One of the products they made was glass pepsi bottles. In this area they would spray paint the logo on the bottles; but first the bottles had to be put on a conveyor belt. So, for two solid weeks, eight hours a day, I stood at the beginning of this conveyor belt and would grab a box of 24 bottles and flip them onto the conveyor belt. This was before the days of Ipods and MP3’s, even CD players; so I had nothing to listen to. I just stood there, for 480 minutes and flipped bottles; and wondered how some guy could stand here full time and do this for a living.

Speaking of tv shows. I’ve mentioned that Mocha-momma loves watching the Dallas SWAT guys on A&E. I’ve been noticing lately that she’ll also watch some show on dwarfs, or little people. The show may even be called Little People. Her first love though is the Food Network, and different shows there. We decided we were going to create a reality based show that features a midget swat team whose members all like to cook, with frequent guest appearances by Dawg the bounty hunter. She may be the only person to watch it; but it’s a great idea.
