Pulitzer winners---not; but funny nonetheless

I spotted a couple of photos recently that caught my eye. For some reason the first one made me think of Marty, not that I'm making assumptions, but just a few wisecracks I heard out of him made me think of him. The second picture struck me funny because one of the sites I visit showed a picture of a cat one time, and someone they knew was collecting pictures of cats. It may have been on Hammerswing75. (by the way, Mocha-momma was asking about the meaning of that, what does that mean Uncle Ben)

The cat thing was a way to poke a little of fun at John Stewart who was taking a blogging vacation last month. I lied and said that he was considering making a return by catblogging ie. posting pictures of cats (which was something that he had previously denigrated).

not the cat thing; the Hammerswing75, what's the significance?

Oh, when I started this thing I was a carpenter. The name hammerswing (plus a number of others) was already taken, so I tacked on my birth year. I've sometimes thought of changing it, but it is what it is.

Man, who would have imagined; the year I graduated from high school, a babe was born, who would one day become a dominant force and ruler on the blogosphere, who would use the Force and fight for mom, apple pie and the American way of life, sort of like Kal-el, who later changed his name to Clark Kent, but instead of becoming Superman, he became: ta dah----Hammerswing75.

Dominant force? Ben?

Ha, I created the monstrosity that is "Hammersing75" just check out the comment he left on this post

Then note how his traffic exploded after he read my sage advice. Yes Ben, I created you, and just like Dr. Frankenstein, before the end, I shall destroy my creations.

(Insert evil laugh here)

(Awkward silence)

(Then more laughing)

(more awkward silence)

Wow, that is a must read for all new bloggers. Now that I took the course, when I do I get my degree from the U of M.A.

Pretty much when your traffic surpasses mine.

Both Ben's blog and a few others (including the Anti-Strib) benefited from my post (Tracy from Anti-Strib also comments on the post). Anti-Strib used to have traffic on par to mine, but then it explodes to where it is today.

I don't follow my own advice, so my traffic has been fairly stagnant in the last year (if you notice, I do a bad job with linking to other bloggers, reading other blogs and commenting on other blgos) compared to other bloggers. Thus I haven't grown my blog's traffic at all despite the fact I have a radio show (Sundays on 1450 KNSI in St. Cloud from 1-3pm, also available on the 'net).

I don't follow my own guide for a simple reason; I used to obsess about blogging (seriously) to the point where I spending way too much time blogging and trying to grow my traffic. I'm happy with both my traffic and the amount of time I spend on my blog at the point where I'm at, so I don't need to keep pushing myself (despite what those "inspiration" posters tell me).

That's a great idea though, have a little "certificate" to have people print out when their blogs inevitable become bigger, better and more read than mine.

Did I shamelessly plug my radio show yet?

Okay then, comment completed.

Marty: Is the signal strong enough to reach Rockford? I'll try and remember to check it out tomorrow, on the net if I have to.
