Our first loves

One of my daily stops on the blogosphere is Hammerswing75. From what I’ve been able to ascertain, Uncle Ben seems to have been smitten by a French news anchor named Melissa Theuriau. Seeing her picture, I don’t think anyone should ever question Uncle Ben’s taste in the ladies. It got me thinking about my very first major crush, along with probably 90% of all other elementary school boys at the time. See if you can guess who it was.

I was an elementary schooler in the early to mid 60’s. We would watch a particular show every Sunday night, 6:00 CST I believe. The young lady in question was a singer and performer on a segment of that show. As she got older, she made a series of popular movies and became a teen-couple sensation along with her male co-star. More recently, she was a spokesperson for an ingredient to one of America’s favorite sandwiches. Who was she? Post your answer in comments.

Bonus question: my ‘no chance under the sun, but daydream away’ teenage crush was a young lady who I first came upon in Life Magazine. They did a story on her royal family. They have been the subject of tabloids for the last 50 years; and like many celebrities, she has unfortunately led a somewhat tragic and sorrowful life, despite her position, wealth and fame. Who was she?

Daydreams and youthful crushes aside; in the here and now, I could not be any happier and content in living out my life alongside Mocha-momma. Now MM is about 10 years younger than I am, which is not that big of a deal since we met when I was in my mid-30’s and still a bachelor. The freaky thing about that is the first place I lived after college was a townhome in Minnetonka which was about 3 blocks away from her home. I was a 23 year old living with two roommates, partying hardy and still dating my college sweetheart; MM was a 13 year old in middle school who didn’t know the names of all the Beatles, and still didn’t know them when we first started dating. That almost stopped the relationship right there; luckily God intervened and here we are today.

First off you've got a couple of years on me so I'm not too knowledgeable about "crushworthy" females back then, but I'll guess Marie Osmond. (ouch, was I poking fun at your age?)

I'm glad that you have been able to educate Mochamomma in Beatles trivia. For the record, Ringo, John, Paul, George.

And yes, Melissa Theuriau is gorgeous and entirely worthy of my crush. Now I just have to find someone who lives a little bit closer to Minneapolis. :)

What a great guess; but wrong. Marie is about the same age as I am and I did grow up watching the Osmonds on variety shows. My brother owned about every Beatles' 45's and albums as we grew up, I wish he would saved them all; of course we banged them up pretty good because we listened to them all the time,so Antiques Roadshow probably wouldn't have put a big value on them.

Oh shucks. Say, are you still planning to go to the MOB event at Keegan's tonight at 7pm?
