The Agony to the Ecstasy to the Agony

What a long, strange trip it was. The first 8 1/2 innings were disappointing. The Twins weren't hitting, every solid shot they had was right at someone; and the Tigers were beating KC into the 9th inning. The Twins were down 3-1 going in to the ninth, and when Chicago scored one more I told my son that's no good, you can't give up an extra run like that in the ninth. My sister and her family, normally die-hards, decided to leave; she felt it was over, so we said good-bye, and my son and I stuck it out.

Sure enough, the bottom of the ninth brought us all to edge of our seats and standing. First of all, KC had tied it up in the ninth, and went on to score 4 runs in the 11th. When they were posting those scores from Detroit, the cheers were as loud as for anything happening in the Twins game. The Twins started a rally and scored two, we're now down 4-3; they get the bases loaded, everyones standing on their feet, two outs, Mauer and Morneau had failed to be heroes this night, one last chance, the guy whiffs on a lousy pitch, game over.

Oh well, a bad night at the ballpark is still better than a good night at home watching TV. Now it's the next morning, and we're just getting ready to head off to my company picnic, for Carlson Companies, which is at Valley Fair amusement park. We were at Valley Fair on their first day of operation this year for MN Scouting Day at the Fair, which was one week prior to the opening weekend. Now we're going to shut them down on the last day of operations. The time in between just flew. Life needs to slow down.

I was at that game, but like all fairweather fans I left after the 6th inning.

Regrets? Didn't get an extra dome dog.
