Simon says: break out your mace

A man gestures to members of the military after a crowd of thousands were fired upon while protesting in Yangon's city centre September 27, 2007.

I wasn't able to see if there was an 'after' picture; but it sure takes some major league cajones to stand in defiance like this after they've already fired on people.

I know the stakes here are life and death, but somehow that picture reminds me of the knights running from the rabbit in that Monty Python movie. Doesn't it look like Myanmar's junta is a little bit more fragile than you'd be led to believe?

He's not a monk. No saffron robe, and he's got hair. He's an ordinary Joe.

Ordinary joe, standing for his freedom. The picture doesn't show it, but there were thousands protesting, they may be behind him.
