It has to be an eagle. I can't think of any other raptors that would be that big.
We need some advice. JR is going to take a gun safety class next month, he just turned 12, and we're not sure what kind of rifle to start him out with.
We'll probably just have him target shooting to begin with, and ease him into hunting down the road. I'm not a hunter, so we're going to have to work hard at finding opportunities for him to learn and find experiences.
Are there any particular makers that we should go with? About the only one I can think of would be Remington. Chances are, what we'll do now, is just go to Walmart and pick out some starter rifle; but I'm a believer in spending a little more and get something of quality.
remington is good. ruger is very good, and my personal fav for .22 long guns.
some, like remington, produce a match quality .22. highly accurate, dependable, bolt action. the issue here is a matter of buying more than you'll need.

Falconing, it is indeed a noble endeavour.
And don't start with a rifle, start'em off with a 12 gauge shotgun. :D
start him with a .22.
when the confidence level builds, he can move on to something bigger.
as for hunting: find a trusted family member who hunts and he can learn from them.
most experienced hunters like to mentor.

The Ruger 10/22 is good, and I've personally got a Marlin that just shoots wonderfully. Make sure you get a cleaning kit, too.
