Around the world in pictures

England: Britain's Queen Elizabeth II and her husband the Duke of Edinburgh, 2nd left, prepare for a portrait with the Queen's Body Guard of the Yeomen of the Guard following an inspection of the guard at Buckingham Palace in central London

The Queen's Body Guard!!! If she's ever attacked by terrorists from the AARP (American Association of Retired People), I'm sure they'll fight them off. These guys all look older than Nightwriter and I.

Libya: Libyan anti-riot soldiers stand outside Libya's Supreme Court in Tripoli, Libya

These guys are riot police!!! It looks to me like this woman could snap these guys in half like a twig. They should start feeding these guys the same food this woman is eating. They're all bean poles.

Korea: Models wear creations by Korean designer Lim Hyun Hee during the Supreme Korea Artist Fashion Show by Korean women

I think I could do this job, it probably pays better than what I'm making now. I could stand there in a dress and act like a tree as well as anybody.

Spain: One person was gored in the behind by a bull as hundreds of people took part in the fifth running of the bulls

I'm not even going to count this as an AKJ event. This is like someone dressing up in a pig costume and running through a mosque. They'll get what they deserve.

Island in the South Atlantic Ocean: Gangs of house mice have been caught attacking and killing seabirds 300 times their weight

Rodents: can't live with 'em; can't shoot 'em fast enough. At least squirrels haven't caught on to acting in groups; they're usually lone suicide attackers.

England: David and Victoria Beckham have revealed that they "like to lock the doors at night and wander around naked" in an intimate interview with America's risque W magazine.

When I first saw this, I did a double take. I wondered how they got a picture of me and Mocha-momma to put on a magazine; of course, once I noticed the tatoos, I knew it wasn't me. Before we had kids, MM and I would do the same thing; the problem was it was during a time we were staying with her parents. That caused problems.

how can the queen's bodyguard even put up a good resistence in close garrish clown outfits?
not worried about their age. compared to the queen, they're in the prime of life.

And the Libyan riot police look like 14 year olds.

MM wants to assure everyone that the last statement was made purely in jest. We never frolicked around nude while we stayed with her folks. We enjoyed our stay with them; but, I was a little put off by their request that MM wear a chastity belt.

You'd do a good job of standing there like a tree, but you'd look like hell..

Future news item: Old man posing as tree, attacked by squirrels...

OK, don't give me any more ideas. Artists with far stranger schticks have made it big. I could do a coffee table book--photographs of man wearing dresses being attacked by squirrels---$19.95 on Amazon.

Oh, sorry, I misread "Becks" as "Brecks," and thought you were putting out a campaign ad for John Edwards.

My mistake. As you were.
