A House Divided Cannot Stand

My friends, it is with great sadness that I write this post. My heart is breaking, and fear is creeping down into my bones over the situation in our beloved country at this moment in time. Not since the civil war has an issue arisen that could spark a civil war, pitting neighbor against neighbor; but, I think we are now on the brink. Unlike the War Between the States, this time there will be no clear geographical boundaries. The lines will be drawn between combatants within every state.

America has overcome extreme obstacles since that war. Involvement in WWI and WWII. The Great Depression. The Viet Nam conflict. The turbulence of the 70's and Nixon's Watergate. The Disco Fad. The civil rights struggle. The having to put up with Rosie O'Donnell. These events have all pitted Americans with differing opinions and beliefs against each other, along with many other issues that I didn't mention. What is happening today though, could be the final straw that releases the dogs of war.

Even though it may alienate many of you, and you might turn against me, I am taking a stand. I will fight to the bitter end, and will not apologize for the stance I'm taking on this issue, which is: Paris Hilton's sorry ass should be in jail, and thank God the judge had the guts to put her there.

There, I said it. Watching the news channels last night made me realize what a dividing issue this is right now. All of the big stations---Fox News, CNN, MSNBC---had continuous coverage on her return to jail; and the talking heads they had on were polarized, yet extremely passionate, about the circumstances surrounding the fate of this rich, brainless, shallow, twit of a celebrity.

I don't know where you stand on this issue; but please know this, if the situation does break down to the point of societal chaos and fighting does break out---I will fight you with every ounce of my being, but I won't enjoy it. Afterward, when sanity again prevails, I will be most pleased if you come back and continue to patronize my blog. Thank you.

Disclaimer: The post, of course, was written in jest. My actual take on this whole issue is basically one of I don't give a rats ass about the plight of Paris Hilton. Like many of you I'm sure, I no longer am surprised, or dismayed, at the money and manpower that the media put into these idiotic and meaningless celebrity stories.
