Harper's letter dismisses Kyoto as 'socialist scheme'
Prime Minister Stephen Harper once called the Kyoto accord a "socialist scheme" designed to suck money out of rich countries, according to a letter leaked Tuesday by the Liberals.
It's an interesting, and long, article; what struck me, however, was the last sentence.
The Kyoto Protocol went into effect Feb. 16, 2005, with 141 countries signing on, including every major industrialized country, except the United States, Australia and Monaco.
Which one is not like the other ones? Isn't that a kid's game?
The United States, Australia, and MONACO---you gotta be kidding me.
The only thing I can figure is that Monaco wouldn't sign because of the affect it would have on private jets, yachts, helicopters, and stretch limos. I just find this interesting. If I had been asked to name three countries that didn't sign originally, I never would have guessed Monaco. (I had a crush on Princess Caroline when I was 13 years old; this is just another reason to like the Monacoans, or whatever they call themselves)
