A very enjoyable evening on the books; I'd rate it a solid 9.

Mocha-momma and I just got back from our 3rd annual Valentine's Day date with members of our marriage group. Each of the last three years we've gone to a comedy show put on by an Evangelical Free Church in Brooklyn Park MN.

I am usually very leery about comedy shows; primarily because most comedians I see on TV are usually not funny, or their idea of humor is just to try and be as rude and disgusting as they can be. These comedians are Christians, and I must say that of the eight different people we've seen over the years, 2 or 3 of them were hilarious, and the rest were very funny and I enjoyed them. The only one that I didn't really care for was a woman who was just starting out in the business, and she definitely needed some work; but even she had some good material.

It's a treat to be entertained and laugh quite abit for two straight hours and not hear any cursing or crude humor. We usually start the evening by going out to dinner with our friends as well. Tonight we went to a restaurant called Maynards.

I had the full-rack of babyback ribs, which were very good, probably some of the best I've ever had. Mocha-momma and the other couple we were with all had prime rib. None of them were very impressed with the way their meat was cooked, and they very tactfully made mention of that fact to our waitress. We weren't expecting anything, but as we were paying the tab, the manager came over and apologized. He did say the cook made some adjustments and he gave each of us couples a $20 gift card to use on our next visit. That was unnecessary; but it was a nice little blessing and a great bit of customer service.

As a highlight to a great evening, our kids actually stayed home alone and made it through the entire evening together without getting into a squabble and beating on each other; another blessing. So here I sit, content from a fine meal, great companionship, and replaying some of the funniest jokes in my head. And so to bed, goodnight y'all.

Have you ever been to see the play "Triple Espresso"? It's a dynamite combination of sight gags and physical humor coupled with clever lines and witty story-telling that will get anyone doubled-over in laughter - and it's all clean.

The play is now "franchised" all around the country, but was written and started right here in the Twin Cities by three Christian performers. (I think it's been playing virtually non-stop for more than 10 years at the Music Box Theater in downtown Mpls, but the venue might have changed). It would be a great outing for your couples group; ticket prices are fairly reasonable compared to most theaters.

We have talked about seeing this show numerous times, and have yet to do it. I think the time is now, I'll have to set a date and git-er-done.
