Interspecies Love is a Many Splendored Thing (I'll have to come up with some lyrics and a melody)

Where do we begin to tell the story of how great love can be? (FoxNews Out There)
In Italy, for starters, where keepers at the Oltremare water park in Riccione say their dolphin is dying of a broken heart, the Times of London reports.
The dolphin, Mary G, was found two years ago in the Adriatic Sea and nursed to health by trainer Tamara Monti. The trainer was recently murdered by a neighbor who couldn't stand her barking dogs, and Mary G hasn't been the same.
Since her trainer's death, Mary G has refused her meals — milk and squid — and dropped 110 pounds.
The water park's director, Leandro Stanzani, is appealing for international help to save the dolphin that, he says, is "dying of a broken heart."
"The relationship between a dolphin and its trainer is always special, but this time it was especially close," he said. "Tamara was constantly stroking Mary, who would nuzzle her cheek."

This is a sad story, I imagine the made for TV movie will be out fairly quickly.

I kind of wonder why an animal trainer couldn't train her dogs not to bark. I can't believe the neighbor killed her over one incident; it must have been an on-going annoyance that reached a boiling point.

As far as the dolphin goes, c'est la vie. If it wants to commit suicide, nothing you can do about it. I'm sure other dolphins have been separated from trainers who have been with them a long time and they've carried on.

I can just imagine the scene now at PETA headquarters around the world. They're probably mobilizing their special forces teams to converge on this aquarium and save the poor dolphin. They'll probably be putting out pleas themselves for donations and hold a telethon. Thousands of dollars will be spent trying to save this one dolphin; meanwhile, in nature, dolphins are dying everyday from natural causes to predators to accidental deaths.

I'm not callous, I like dolphins (I loved watching Flipper when I was a kid); but lets get real. If these people can't figure out themselves how to get this dolphin to eat, they're supposedly experts, than just put it out of it's misery and move on.
