Rampage by Polo Team Elephant in Sri Lanka Leaves 2 in Hospital (FoxNews)
COLOMBO, Sri Lanka —
An elephant crushed a minibus in a rampage that left two people in the hospital during an elephant polo match in Sri Lanka on Thursday.
Eighteen-year-old Abey threw off his mahout and an American rider, ran off the pitch and squashed the Spanish team's minibus with his head.
Panicked spectators ran in the southern port town of Galle as the four-ton elephant repeatedly butted the minibus.
I don't think we can label this as an actual AKJ terrorist attack. He/She didn't seem to be singling out humans, but was bent on destroying the bus. On the other hand, just like Islamic terrorists, AKJ terrorists enjoy destroying modes of transportation. The recent squirrel attacks on a car and a plane are just the latest.
What kind of bone this elephant had to pick with either this bus, or with Spain, is beyond our imagination. It could very well just be poor sportsmanship; maybe the Spanish team beat his team previously. It's also possible that this elephant is just not playing with a full deck mentally, kind of like Terrell Owens.
It's just unfortunate that humans were injured.

Elephant Polo is truely the most appalling of
all “sports”.
One would expect that your readers are sensitive enough to help expose this misguided hype (which now pollutes India, Nepal, Sri Lanka and Thailand tourism) for what it really is : the last hurrah of a most noble species destined for extinction, chased over a dusty field, saddled and applauded by Asia’s neo-colonial socialites drenched in gin and tonic.
The truth is that these wonderful creatures are degraded to the role of cash cows to enrich promoters and misguided sponsors under the disguise to promoting tourism to Sri Lanka. The opposite is true: the torture and stress revealed by one of the elephants in Galle should be a wakeup call for all animal lovers to demand a permanant stop to such an outrage and violation of nature conservation.
Even the claim to history is a blatant lie. No decent polo playing Moghul would ever have lowered himself to such ridicule.
