Words of Wisdom

I was flipping through the channels today, right before we left to go visit my sister, and came upon a movie. There were two old guys standing there talking about a young teenage kid who was working on his old beater of a car. One of the guys says to the other:

"you can't polish a turd"

So simple, yet so full of meaning.

I immediately thought of another adage along the same lines, which a co-worker of mine cited when I was telling him about the frustration I was having in getting some employees under my supervision to grasp some very basic skills; he said, "sometimes you just can't fix stupid." I had never heard it before.

Anyway, I also thought---well, man can't polish a turd; but, with God, all things are possible, and He sure has the ability to polish up a turd, or at least change the material he's working with to something that can be polished.
