When I first got into blogging, I did it primarily as a way of venting and expressing outrage at the daily assault of leftist b.s. that inundates our senses. I was a news and news of the weird junkie who was getting fed up with reading about the idiocy of liberalism, and just decided to go out and start expressing my own opinion on things. I never expected to become a Powerline operation; but I tried to be more along the lines of Dave Barry. Along with the liberal bashing, I began adding some personalized posts and telling stories about life as I've experienced it.
The best move I made was getting in touch with Doug Bass, who helped me get listed on the MN Organization of Bloggers list (The MOB). That led to the next best thing to happen---Uncle Ben at Hammerswing75 stumbled on me, and he's a focal point for a number of different bloggers from not only MN, but across the country. I actually had some people visiting on a regular basis.
Right now, in the current stage of blogging, I have to say that the focus has shifted drastically. It is no longer centered on identifying the idiocy of liberalism; but it's focused on the relationships that are being formed with fantastic people across the country. Just like Gino points out, it's great to go around to the different blogs and interact through comments and posts, and have a serious amount of fun and laughter doing it. It's just about the same as if we were all sitting around the table and talking about the latest news or what's going on with our families. It's great that Mocha-momma is enjoying it just as much.
With all that being said, I still enjoy the liberal bashing; but I am mellowing. I have contemplated on the necessity to project a more Christian attitude in dealing with issues and with people of the leftist persuasion. Just like Surly Dave has modified his approach, I am going to try as well.
A friend just recently pointed out that I might want to refrain from using the modifier 'idiot' in my posts that reference liberals. I agree. I did look up idiot in the dictionary, and it says basically that it's used as an insult to question another person's intelligence. In the future I will try and refrain from using that term, especially when 'lunatic' works so much better.
Lunatic is still a fairly offensive term, but it denotes that a person is affected by an actual psychiatric disorder, versus questioning their intelligence. There are a lot of extremely intelligent leftists, so pointing out that they are psychologically impaired is much more accurate.
I detest leftist ideology with a passion, and I believe we are at war with them and I will continue to fight that battle. They are trying to destroy my faith, my country, my family and nearly everything else I believe in and love.
So, if leftists stumble upon this blog, they can try and not let the door hit them on the way out. For my friends, old and new, I want to get to know you all better and continue to point out the nonsense in this world and the humor that reality offers us on a daily basis. Here's a toast to you Ben, Surly, Gino, Gabrielle, Night Writer, Mercy, Steve, et al.

Yup, it's a very social thing. It is responsible for the better part of my social life. Luckily that's not just conducted via computer, but by getting together with people in person too.
The mellowing is undoubtably a good thing. I think it comes with the realization that these words do not exist in a vacuum. Also, since the words and pictures last forever once their posted, it encourages (hopefully) some soul searching about who you really are and how you want to present yourself to the world. Definitely a good thing.
Bravo. Well put. I agree, especially about how fun this is communicating in a way that once was not possible. (You and I come from the age of hieroglyphics, no?)
