I'm going to start up a new support group

Hello everybody. My name is Dave, I'm 49 years old, married and a father of two. I like watching sports, educational shows, and an occasional sit-com; but many of my favorite programs are, are, are........kid shows.

Jimmy Neutron is probably one of my favorites nowadays. I think Sheen is one of the funniest characters on television, and he should have won an emmy by now, cartoon character or not. I'm thinking about this because I just saw on Saturday morning t.v. that one of my all-time favorite shows is being re-run, after being off for about 10 years---Beakman's World.

Beakman's is a kids science show, and I watched it even before we had kids. Mocha-momma is, at least was, one of those types that gets up on a Saturday morning, plots the day and wants to get to work now. We had to come to a compromise early on---nothing gets started until after Beakman's World is over.

I remember hearing Jim Henson (the Muppets) say one time that in order to be a successful kids show, you have to write it so that the parents are entertained as well, because they're the ones who decide if the kids can watch it. I think that some of the best and most creative writers out there are the ones who can do work aimed at kids, but they throw in humor that adults can understand on a whole different level, and reference events or memories that only we can appreciate.

Now that I discovered Beakman's World is on again, nothing is going to get started in our household until 10:30 on Saturday mornings.

another example, bugs bunny, and the road runner cartoons.
adults could laugh at some the antics and images that the kids wouldnt really 'get'.

oh man, can you imagine the uproar nowadays if they started doing these cartoons new; PETA, NAACP, Native American Groups, ACLU; they'd all be up in arms and the court systems would be clogged with law suits. Remember all the references during WWII on Bug's; if they did those same type of pro-American cartoons and mocked Islamic terrorists, just like they did the Nazis, leftists would all be having conniption fits. They were funny though. My favorite guy was Yosemite Sam.

That's a step in the right direction, to admit that you have a problem. I'd laugh at you if I this was the first contact I have w/ you but since you said you need a support group, I won't laugh at you, for now:o)

Actually, I love Bugs Bunny, Tweety Bird, Silvester, and that crazy Speedy Gonzales. I heard that they no longer play Speedy anymore because that was considered to be racists, the caricature of Mexicans. Ok, this comes from the same liberals who promote free speech, etc. Double standards I see, as Yoda would put it.
