Would this be an allegory, a metaphor, what; some English major let me know.

I witnessed the most amazing thing at our birdfeeder this morning. There were a number of birds hanging out, mostly sparrows, enjoying their morning feed. All of a sudden, out of nowhere, a huge woodpecker swooped in. He's done it before and all the birds usually scatter in a heartbeat. He planted himself on one side near the top; except this time there was one rather large sparrow that held his ground and stayed on the perch, eating away like nothing happened. The woodpecker was right above him and started pecking away at his head. This bird did not move, he just kept eating while the woodpecker kept whacking away at his head. This went on for about a minute. The woodpecker finally stopped and zipped around to the opposite side of the feeder. This bird hopped over to the adjoining side and stared down the woodpecker until the woodpecker flew off without having eaten anything. The brave one ate a few more bites and then took off.

I watched this whole episode and thought---that jihadist woodpecker met it's match in that smaller bird. I labeled the bird Israel. All the Spanish, French and German birds took off, even the American birds (although they just hopped over to the thistle feeder, they weren't frightened to the point of giving up and totally flying away). These other birds were all intimidated by the threat this vicious little bully of the bird kingdom posed, all except that one.

I imagine he probably flew away with a raging headache; but he held his ground and won out in the end, just like it's going to end up in the world battle between Muslims and God's chosen people.
