I'm now an official MOBster

From now on I'll be going by kingrocco. Mocha-momma and I attended the summerpalooza MOB event last night, our first function, and had a grand time. I just have a few minutes in between church services today, we just got back from our regular service and in a little while I'll be taking off to the golf course to meet up with some people from church; but I wanted to post a quick blog on last night's event.

First: Keegans was very nice. Being the country folk that we are though, when we walked in we asked the bartender where no-smoking was, we immediately realized our mistake and said so, and the guy remarked, "you're from a place where bartenders can still make money." It's too bad. We prefer the smoke free environment; but my belief is that it should be up to the individual proprietors whether they want to allow smoking, not the government. We have gone into places and immediately left because of the stench of smoke, but that's our choice; others want it. We can still find places to go. The waitresses were fantastic--very friendly, courteous and on-top of our needs and following us around as we moved from place to place. The Ellis Island Hot Dog was very good, and Mocha-momma loved the chips and the soup she had.

Second: it was more than a pleasure to actually meet Uncle Ben, Night Writer and his family, and Surly Dave and his Sweeter Half. We missed Cathy in the Wright, so we'll have to wait for that pleasure. Some of the new people we met included Doug Bass (who was instrumental in getting my blog listed, thank you), Martin Andrade (great guy, Mocha-momma really enjoyed chatting with him) and Sequel from Anti-strib (which was a highlight for me, as his was one of the first blogs I really started to follow when I first got into it) The comeraderie and displays of friendship only heighten the desire to become more a part of the MOB and continue on building relationships with such a wonderful group of people.

As nice as the whole thing was, I still have one dream--being 100% Polish, it would be nice to have an event at Nye's one of these days. Instead of doing trivia, the group could sing and dance to Polka music. Oh well, maybe one day. I was just joking about the name, I'll continue with kingdavid; not because I consider myself royal, but because I would like to emulate his love of God and hopefully one day reach a level of being considered a man after God's own heart.

We definitely are going to be at Valley Fair. We hit Valley Fair one week before the official opening when they hosted Scouting Day, now we're going to close it out with Carlson. We'll meet in front of the Wild Thing and send Mocha-momma and Sweeter Half off to start the day.
