We have our Cub Scout kick-off pack meeting tonight. Scouting is alive and well in our small town of Rockford MN, with our current roster at 66 boys from 1st-5th grade. Check out our web site at www.pack490mn.com.
Scouting is doing well in MN as a whole; despite the vicious attacks by the ACLU in their effort to destroy this organization. This is another prime example of leftists trying to destroy something they disapprove of; in spite of their proclamations of tolerance and open-mindedness.
Much of what the ACLU battles is based on selfishness and the self-centeredness of leftist individuals and organizations. A prime example of this is a situation I read about recently, in Maine I believe. One person was suing a college to ban a local blood center from having a blood drive because of their policy of screening for homosexual activity and the threat of spreading AIDS. This single person felt that the fact they were offended far outweighed the saving of lives that the blood donations made at this college could provide. Fortunately, the college battled this nutcase and won.
If individuals or organizations out there don't like the policies of the BSA, then you know what, start your own scouting organization. You can have merit badges for learning how to put on condoms properly, and maybe perform a project and earn an eagle scout badge by successfully censoring an organization in your area.
