Honestly, how is anyone to judge what’s true and factual in this day and age. Intelligence doesn’t mean squat in what you believe or don’t believe. You can go out and do as much research as you can on any particular subject, and you come out even more confused than when you began. Every issue has its sides, and each side can produce data, facts and experts to back up their claims.
Take the economy for instance. You can ask 100 economists, all Ivy League grads with MBA’s, what do we need to do to improve the economy---you’d get 100 different answers. If the experts from Harvard and Yale can’t come to a consensus, how should I know?
Nobody is ever guilty of anything more; at least no one ever admits to being guilty of anything. Bribe money in the freezer—nope, I just don’t trust banks. Did you dope up on steroids and performance enhancers---nope, I just have a high level of steroids in my system. We have surveillance video of you doing this---yeah, you have me on tape, but nope, I didn’t do anything wrong. If you deny it long enough, you’re off the hook.
I’m at least of average intelligence and I read numerous news sites and blog sites on a daily basis. Living in a small town in central Minnesota does not place me in the middle of major current events. All of my opinions are basically derived from perceptions from what I read and hear. With most issues out there, it’s not a matter of what do you believe, it’s a matter of who do you believe. I don’t have enough time in a day to go out and do major research on all of today’s issues; so, I go by what I read other’s say who do have the time. I also consider what the possible motivations are that these people are working for. So, I’m going to believe a conservative’s view over a liberal view in every major issue out there today. I’m going to trust World Net Daily over the Minneapolis Star Tribune. I’m going to trust Michelle Malkin and Ann Coulter over Molly Ivans and Maureen Dowd any day of the week. And most importantly, I’m going to put my faith in Jesus over Allah, Buddha, Charles Darwin, Sigmund Freud---and the list goes on.
