Finale to summer vacation

One more day of work, then I’m on vacation through next Tuesday. We had been planning to go camping in Custer State Park in SD; but some circumstances came up and now we’re sticking around here. One activity we are going to enjoy is to spend a night at the new hotel and (world’s largest) waterpark at the Mall of America. The kids love doing this, but usually it’s an activity we do during Thanksgiving break. We’ve been up to Arrowwood Resort in Alexandria and also to a waterpark in the WI Dells. I hope this one lives up to the hype.

Test for you physics lovers out there: consider your typical tube in a waterpark

Question 1. How fast would a 90 pound, 11 year old boy travel going down on an inner-tube if the angle of descent was about 45 degrees and it had two s-curves.

Question 2: If the inner-tube carrying his mom/dad, totaling about 400 pounds, went down the same tube---how big a splash would be generated, how far would each of them fly, and how many gallons of water would each swallow after the tube hit the water going about Mach 1. Bonus—how long would each of them laugh and how quick would it take them to get back to the top.

After the waterpark we plan to do some camping out at Baylor Campgrounds in Carver County. I’m sure I’ll have some stories to relate when we get back.
