And the winner is-----nobody

Does anyone remember the Monte Python sketch—Olympic Hide & Seek Finals? I can’t remember the exact time, but the two contestants ended in a tie. The time was something like 17 years, 200 days, 5 hours, 17 minutes. How frustrating would that be? I don’t know very many people that are happy about things that end in ties or have no discernible winner. (of course I don't know very many big soccer fans)

The reason I bring this up is because I’ve been thinking lately about all the issues facing us today, and what if we had a worldwide vote that would show us where everyone stands. The current world population is about 6 ½ billion; for sake of argument I’ll just use that total number and not consider how many children are included in that total.

So, let’s take a vote. How many believe that homosexuality is a normal and acceptable state of being; and how many believe that no matter how you look at it—religiously, genetically, evolutionally, hormonally, etc—that it’s abnormal and a perversion of nature? How many believe that global warming truly exists and that all scientists agree; and how many people have serious doubts, and understand that there are many, many scientists out there who refute the whole hypothesis as bunk? How many think the Palestinians have the moral authority on their side and are justified in bombing and murdering innocent people on a weekly basis; and how many stand with Israel and believe they have the moral authority to defend themselves and do whatever they can to combat the Arab/Islamic notion that Israel has no right to exist as a nation? How many people actually enjoy world cup soccer; and how many think 0-0 scores are ridiculous and wonder why is it that the best soccer players in the world can’t put the ball in a net the size of a barn? What about abortion, other environmental issues, animal rights, stem cell research, yada-yada-yada.

Giving the benefit of the doubt on these issues, let’s say that the vote would come out a tie, 3.25 billion on each side; so who’s right and who’s wrong. Of all the issues out there today, which ones might have the vote slanted to either the liberal side or the conservative side? Would it matter if the vote was lopsided, say 1 billion vs. 5.5 billion? Am I suppose to apologize and cave in on a belief that a billion other human beings have?

There’s no main point to this thought. I just find it interesting that political leaders, celebrities, even everyday John Does, are called to the carpet on a daily basis to apologize for something they said, and must certainly believe, even though there are probably billions of other people on the planet who think the same way.

The one area that ticks me off the most is when anybody makes a reference to homosexuality that the GLBT(XYZPQT…….) organization views as intolerant. How such a minute percentage of the population could conjure up such fear is amazing; unless one takes into account that their propaganda machine could probably match that of the Nazi Party prior to WWII. In my opinion---which evidently doesn’t matter to the tolerant, open-minded, and 1st Amendment spouting liberal left---homosexual activists are about the most intolerant and close-minded group of people out there today. Liberals hide behind the skirts of the 1st Amendment on just about all issues out there today; but they come out all guns ablazing against conservatives who speak against them and their beliefs.
